Top Hawk 2018

Top Hawk is leading the way for collegiate aviation programs to continue training the next generation of pilots. Top Hawk is a partnership between Textron Aviation and top university aviation schools to provide students with access to the world’s most popular trainer, the Cessna® Skyhawk®, and provide unique internship opportunities with the world’s leading general aviation manufacturer.

Select universities will participate in Top Hawk to promote general aviation and connect future pilots to higher education. Universities will receive a factory new, custom branded Cessna Skyhawk to use for the duration of the program to promote aviation at air shows, aviation contests, and recruiting events. Top Hawk aircraft also allow schools to showcase their connection to Textron Aviation’s reputable internship program and support discovery flights and learn to fly programs.

California Aeronautical University
California Aeronautical University (CAU) students live, eat and breathe aviation. The University offers aviation-related bachelors and master’s degree programs for students seeking a career or advancement as a professional pilot, mechanic, dispatcher or aviation business professional. The on airport unparalleled purpose built campus offers students a practical training environment and exposure to relationships with industry partners who can provide direct pathways to a professional aviation career. The University is proud to offer its students a fleet of 2015 or newer Cessna 172 Skyhawk G1000 equipped aircraft, Beechcraft Baron 55 aircraft and Redbird and Frasca aircraft training devices. Due to our structured year round curriculum, a bachelor’s degree can be completed in as little as 3 years. Flight courses are designed to maximize safety, and pace students for completion effectiveness and skill retention. Students achieve their private, instrument, commercial, certificated flight instructor-instrument (CFI, CFII) and multi-engine ratings. CAU is an approved FAA FAR Part 141 institution with additional authorization for bachelor degree graduates to apply for a Restricted-Aircraft Transport Pilot certificate with only 1000 flight hours (a 500 flight hour savings). University of Dubuque
Since 1973, the University of Dubuque's Aviation Programs have been graduating students to take leadership roles in the field of air transportation. The University offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Aviation Technology in Unmanned Aerial Systems, Flight Operations in preparing professional pilots and an Aviation Management major preparing students to be leaders in the industry. The Flight Operations and Aviation Management programs are accredited by the Aviation Accreditation Board, International (AABI). In order to provide every student with world-class opportunities, we ensure our students are exposed to the best practices and latest techniques, as well as the most up to date equipment. UD aviation students now fly the latest Cessna 172-S models, receive their instrument training utilizing G-1000 glass cockpits, and pilot one of the best high-performance complex trainers available. We never stop improving our technology and integrating new equipment including a state-of-the art Aerosim CRJ200 Level 5 compliant Flight Training Device (FTD). In addition to securing the latest equipment, we employ outstanding faculty and flight personnel. Courses are constantly evaluated, up-dated, and aligned to changes in the aviation industry. We insist on training and safety excellence and adhere to clearly defined standards of fiscal and safety program accountability. Finally, we emphasize learning in a professional environment -- critical in aviation, where even small errors and omissions cannot be tolerated.

Middle Tennessee State University
Established in 1942, the Department of Aerospace at Middle Tennessee State University (MSTU) has grown into one of the most respected aerospace programs in the nation. Fifteen full-time faculty members, 35 flight instructors, and over 700 majors places it among the largest of the nation's collegiate aviation programs. Majors in Aerospace choose among six concentrations: Aviation Administration, Aerospace Technology, Flight Dispatch, Maintenance Management, Professional Pilot, and Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Operations. A Master's degree in Aviation Administration, with concentrations in Aviation Education, Aviation Management, and Aviation Safety and Security Management is also offered. The mission of the Aerospace Department is to prepare our students to become the leaders of the next generation of aviation professionals by developing the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for successful careers in aviation.
