Hawker Beechcraft Corporation Donates 600 Flu Shots to Wichita’s Guadalupe Clinic

WICHITA, Kan. (Jan. 19, 2010) – Hawker Beechcraft Corporation (HBC) is taking a proactive approach to community health by donating 600 flu vaccine shots to Wichita’s Guadalupe Clinic. The Clinic, which is operated by the Catholic Diocese of Wichita, provides free medical services to uninsured residents of Wichita, Sedgwick County and the surrounding area.

“This contribution of flu vaccine shots comes at a key time and we are extremely grateful for it,” said Marlene Dreiling, executive director for Guadalupe Clinic. “Our initial flu shot allotment was cut to approximately 100 dosages. These shots will allow us to make the vaccine available just as the traditional peak season for the flu in Wichita arrives. Even though flu shots have been available since October, there are still lots of people out there, especially those with secondary conditions, who need this protection.”

“As a company, we recognize the benefit of preventive medicine and wellness when it comes to our work force and the community,” said Rich Jiwanlal, HBC vice president, Human Resources. “We have provided flu shots to our employees for many years and are pleased we can also donate these vaccines to the Guadalupe Clinic.”

Last year, Guadalupe Clinic logged more than 12,000 patient visits. All of its doctors are volunteers. For more information, contact Guadalupe Clinic at 316.264.8974.
