Beechcraft Strengthens Government, Special Missions Aftermarket Support

Global Mission Support division solves requirements for 1,000+ military aircraft around the world

PARIS (June 17, 2013) – Today during the Paris Air Show, Beechcraft Corporation announced a new leader for its Global Mission Support (GMS) division, reinforcing its mission to meet the unique and varied service requirements of government, military and special missions operators using Hawker and Beechcraft platforms domestically and internationally.

John H. (Jay) Gibson has been appointed vice president for GMS. Gibson joined the company in 2009 after numerous leadership positions in private companies and within the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Air Force. At Beechcraft, he previously led the Special Missions business and also served in the Defense Company in various roles.

“Since launching Global Mission Support two years ago, GMS has positioned itself as the trusted partner offering parts, service and support due to unprecedented insight from millions of flight hours, real world intelligence from thousands of operating aircraft and the convergence of practical skills from a global network of tip-to-tail support for Hawker and Beechcraft aircraft,” Gibson said. “Our team is focused on further expanding and enhancing our commitment to providing exceptional value to all of our government, military and special missions customers around the world.”

GMS has customers throughout North America as well as in South America, Africa, Asia and Europe, including support of more than 1,000 operational military aircraft in programs around the world. GMS supports these programs and their complex operational, logistics and maintenance needs in the field with a wide variety of products and services, including contractor logistics support, customized maintenance training, spare parts support and aircraft modifications/upgrades programs.

As an example of supporting complex, high tempo operations, GMS provides spares support for the U.S. Air Force’s fleet of 37 King Air 350s and 350ERs that are flown for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions as part of Project Liberty, which includes Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation  Iraqi Freedom in Iraq.

Additionally, in sustaining multifaceted international program, GMS supports the Iraqi Air Force’s fleet of Beechcraft King Air turboprops and Beechcraft T-6A trainers by managing two full contractor logistics support operations that boast outstanding mission readiness rates. Services there include staffing dedicated maintenance teams, operating a Contractor Operated Maintenance Base Supply warehouse, providing a cost per flight hour model to ensure predictable and affordable operating costs, and training maintenance technicians.
