ORLANDO, Fla. (Oct. 29, 2012) – Hawker Beechcraft Global Customer Support (GCS) today announced during the 2012 National Business Aviation Association’s annual convention in Orlando that L.J. Aviation, a charter and aircraft management company based in Latrobe, Pa., has signed an agreement for the installation of aftermarket Beechcraft King Air modifications, creating the ultimate transformation in performance and capabilities.

L.J. Aviation will be the launch customer for the Pro Line 21-compatible XP52 Blackhawk engine upgrade to its Beechcraft King Air B200. The modifications, which will be installed at the Hawker Beechcraft Services (HBS) facility in Wichita, Kan., will also include high performance upgrades such as BLR winglets and Raisbeck’s EPIC Gold package incorporating Ram Air Recovery System, Enhanced Performance Leading Edges and Dual Aft Body Strakes.

HBS offers a set of the most popular upgrades, known as King Air Transformation package, to improve performance, capability, safety and versatility while ultimately increasing the resale value of its legendary line of turboprops. The upgrades can be purchased separately, but are designed to be bundled into packages to leverage equipment purchases and installation cost efficiencies.

“L.J. Aviation has been a long-time customer and we’re excited that they are making the most of their King Air airframe,” said Christi Tannahill, Hawker Beechcraft senior vice president, Global Customer Support. “Our King Air Transformation upgrades offer the most comprehensive selection of mods available to expand operators’ performance, capability and comfort requirements. The transformations can be performed at all 13 Hawker Beechcraft Services locations worldwide and are highly customizable.”

The installation will replace the original Pratt & Whitney PT6A-41 or -42 engines with factory-new PT6A-52 engines, complete with a new-engine warranty (2,500 hours/5 years coverage on primary parts). The upgrade provides proven elevated performance levels and safety in a simple bolt-on package requiring minimal airframe modification for little more than the cost of an overhaul.

BLR Aerospace winglets enhance ramp appeal and aerodynamics, reducing induced drag so operators can fly faster while improving fuel economy.

The Raisbeck Ram Air Recovery System maximizes air through the engine inlet increasing climb and cruise performance in both normal and anti-ice operation modes. The system reduces torque loss with ice vanes deployed and can be deployed for all ground, take off and landing operations, which offers protection against foreign object damage.

Raisbeck’s Dual Aft Body Strakes replace the standard ventral fin to provide King Air operators improved control and handling qualities in-flight, enhancing passenger comfort. They also increase climb and cruise performance as well as yaw damp limits.
