Citation Jet Design Borne by Customer Feedback

As told by Tim Gallien, a pilot who sat on Textron Aviation’s Customer Advisory Board and gave insight into creating the CESSNA CITATION XLS Gen2 jet.

You know, for just a normal pilot, to come in here and kind of get my input, this will be something cool that I’ll say I got to do. I was kind of honored to be doing an advisory board for the interior of the XLS. It was an amazing experience to work with the design team. CESSNA, the way they received our ideas was great. And now, here we are. We have this mock up and it looks exactly like how everybody wanted it to look.

The new lights look great. The chairs are super comfortable. I think that Cessna does take into account real people in their designs. They don’t just design a pretty jet and it kind of works. I think they think more about the ergonomics and not just engineering but in living with the plane and being in the airplane. The experience of the airplane. Walking up to it. Looking at it. It makes sense to me that this is a thing they do. It’s really cool that I get to do it with them.

I can’t wait to see one on the ramp.
